3 Different Style Ideas for a Vanity Makeup Table

A vanity makeup table is a desirable piece of furniture for the bedroom: It is convenient, useful and stylish, providing a place to primp and a beautiful way to store and showcase all your makeup, perfume and cosmetics. While you could go out to a furniture store and buy a new vanity makeup table, there are some other options you can choose that are not only affordable, but as uniquely stylish as the pretty lady who uses the table. Style #1 – Shabby Chic
‘Shabby Chic’ is a decidedly feminine look, making this style ideally suited for a vanity makeup table. Shabby Chic generally features antique furniture that has been painted in a creamy white or pastel shade and then given a distressed finish. Floral accents painted on or engraved in the furniture are typical of this style as well, making it romantic, girly and fun. Flea markets, garage sales and antique stores are good places to look for a vanity table that can be refinished in shabby chic style. Look for style features like spindle or turned legs or a vanity table and stool made of wicker. A table that includes a drawer and a mirror is perfect, but nearly any small table that allows you sit comfortably while you engage in your beauty regimen is adaptable. An easel style mirror with a antique gilded frame can be pressed into service and don’t worry about the color of your table when you purchase it since you will likely paint it in a shade that coordinates with your shabby chic boudoir. Tall lamps with beaded shades on each side of the table will add style and good lighting that enhances your best features. Style #2 – Sophisticated Elegance
An art deco style table with a curvaceous shape provides the basis for a glamorous “Hollywood” take on the vanity makeup mirror. Art deco tables often featured large round mirrors mounted between tall posts with art deco detailing like chevrons or waterfall designs. A table in this style can be done in a glossy paint color that accents your décor; black is very dramatic or you can choose to add elegant highlights to your table with metallic paint. A straight back chair or upholstered ottoman are good choices for seating and you might add art deco style wall sconces on each side of the vanity for extra elegance. Style # 3 – Youthful Style
A funky and fun vanity makeup table is an accessory that any young lady would love to have in her bedroom. Purchase an inexpensive used or new vanity table and paint it in her favorite shade of turquoise, hot pink, black or yellow. Stenciled designs can add more fun and the motif can be carried from the table to the chair or bench. Add some mod floral, polka dot or faux fur fabric for the chair, a cute mirror and stylish bins to hold her beauty accessories.
No matter with style you choose, any vanity table can be dressed up even more by adding a skirt attached with Velcro around the perimeter.
